Ronnie Schildknecht 3rd in Ironman Texas, Corinne Abraham 5th & Sofie Goos 10th

With 3 athletes at the start grid of Ironman Texas, the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team was well represented in the North American Championship Ironman. The men's podium was dominated by Matt Hanson (USA: 8:07:03), with a deserved win in a new course record, Joe Skipper (GBR: 8:16:26) came second and Ronnie Schildknecht (SUI: 8:21:03) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came third after a strong come back. The women's race was won by Angela Naeth (CAN: 8:55:19), followed by Leanda Cave (GBR: 8:58:12) and Rachel Joyce (GBR: 9:05:02). Corinne Abraham (GBR: 9:12:20) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came 5th after a solid race with the fastest bike split. Her teammate Sofie Goos finished in 10th position (BEL: 9:27:58). This brings the 2015 total already to 7 wins and 14 podium finishes for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team.

Liz Blatchford finished 2nd in Ironman 70.3 Vietnam

Liz Blatchford of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came second in yesterday's Ironman 70.3 Vietnam. Very hot and humid Another great result for Liz Blatchford yesterday in IM70.3 Vietnam. Liz finished 2nd in very hot and humid conditions. Caroline Steffen won the race in 4:21:40. Liz finished 2' later in 4:23:48 (splits 26:10 - 2:23:06 - 1:30:42). Dimity-Lee Duke came third.

Will Clarke wins Mallorca Olympic Triathlon; Corinne Abraham wins the Volcano Triathlon in Lanzarote Liz Blatchford 2nd in Ironman 70.3 Busselton; Romain Guillaume 11th in Ironman 70.3 Pays d’Aix

Today, Will Clarke (GBR: 1:45:15) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team won the Mallorca Olympic Triathlon. In a sprint finish, Will was 3” faster than the young Linus Stimmel (GER: 1:45:18), Dmitry Rostyagaev (RUS: 1:46:52) completed the podium. At the same moment, his teammate Romain Guillaume (FRA:4:08:03) came 11th in the Ironman 70.3 Pays d’Aix. Andi Boecherer (GER: 3:57:21), who made his come-back after a long recovery due to a car crash, won the race only 12” ahead of Boris Stein (GER: 3:57:33), Jan Van Berkel (SUI: 3:59:30) finished 3rd. Yesterday, Corinne Abraham (GBR) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team – who came 4th in last week’s Half Challenge Fuerteventura - won the Volcano Triathlon in Lanzarote (Olympic distance), before multiple Ironman Champion Michelle Vesterby (DAN) and Saleta Castro (ESP). While her teammate Liz Blatchford (AUS:4:18:40) came 2nd in Ironman 70.3 Busselton. Felicity Sheedy-Ryan (AUS:4:16:18) took the win in Western Australia, Katey Gibb (AUS:4:19:18) finished 3rd on the Australian podium. Just like last week, it ended up being another successful weekend for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team with 2 strong victories and a solid podium performance. This brings our 2015 total already to 7 wins and 13 podium finishes for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team.

Helle Frederiksen 1st in Ironman 70.3 Texas; Corinne Abraham 4th in Half Challenge Fuerteventura

It ended up being another successful weekend for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team with an outstanding victory and a solid top 5 performance. This brings the 2015 total already to 5 wins and 10 podium finishes for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team. Today, Helle Frederiksen (DEN:4:07:52) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team won Ironman 70.3 Texas with an impressive lead of almost 6 minutes. The Latin American Champion Ironman 70.3 made the difference with a strong bike performance and an impressive run. Angela Naeth (CAN: 4:13:50) came second, while Emma-Kate Lidbury (GBR: 4:17:58) finished third. Yesterday, her team mate Corinne Abraham came 4th in Challenge Fuerteventura. Daniela Ryf (SUI: 4:20:33), the runner-up of the Ironman World Championship 2014, was outstanding from start to finish. Anja Beranek (GER: 4:33:08) came second and Eimear Mullan (IRL: 4:36:03) completed the podium. Corinne Abraham (GBR: 4:36:49) finished 4th and missed the podium by less than a minute. In addition to this, other Uplace-BMC team members were performing well in local training races. Ronnie Schildknecht won the Marbach Duathlon in Switzerland and Sofie Goos came 3rd in the 10 Miles of Antwerp in Belgium.

Romain Guillaume 4th in International Triathlon Cannes

In a world-class field, Romain Guillaume (FRA) from the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came 4th in the Cannes International Triathlon. The unexpected winner Giulio Molinari (ITA) won today’s race after an impressive bike leg, Jan Frodeno (GER) came close with a strong run while, the 2014 Ironman World Champion, Sebastian Kienle (GER) came third.

Helle Frederiksen 1st & Sofie Goos 2nd in IM 70.3 Latin American Championship Brasil

It became a Super Sunday for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team with 2 strong continental Championship podium finishes. This brings the 2015 total already on 9 podium finishes for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team. Helle Frederiksen (DEN) from the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon was outstanding in the Ironman 70.3 Latin American Championship Brasil. The Challenge Bahrain winner led from start to finish and won with a big lead in 4:04:17. Her teammate Sofie Goos (BEL: 4:17:15) came second and Brennan Morrey Ruth (USA: 4:18:16) came third.

Bart Aernouts 3rd in Ironman South Africa, the Standard Bank African Championship; Liz Blatchford 2nd in Challenge Half Batesman Bay; Ronnie Schildknecht 8th in IM 70.3 California

It became a successful weekend for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team with 2 strong podium finishes. This brings the 2015 total already on 7 podium finishes for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team. Today, Frederik Van Lierde (BEL) was outstanding in the Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa in the Ironman Standard Bank African Championship. The 2013 World Champion led from start to finish and won with a strong run in 8:16:35. Ivan Rana (ESP: 8:30:45) came second and Bart Aernouts (BEL: 8:35:59) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came third. In Batesman Bay, Liz Blatchford was racing in front from start to finish. The run leg became a shoulder-to-shoulder battle of 21km. In the last 60m, Yvonne Van Vlerken (NED:4:27:48) took the victory in this exciting race, Liz Blatchford (AUS: 4:27:49) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came second, while Mary Beth Ellis (USA) came third. In California, Jan Frodeno (GER: 3:47:08) took advantage of beautiful race conditions and he used very fast run splits to win at yesterday’s Accenture Ironman 70.3 California triathlon, crossing the finish line in 3:47:08. Frodeno, earned his second consecutive win in Oceanside followed by Andy Potts (USA:3:48:43) and Lionel Sanders (CAN:3:49:19). Ronnie Schildknecht (SUI: 3:58:50) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team who finished a tough 6-week training block came 8th.

Helle Frederiksen 3rd in Challenge Dubai, Bart Aernouts 6th

Challenge Dubai is the first of three half distance triathlons being part of the Triple Crown series. With a prize purse of 1 million dollar over the three Challenge events in the Middle East (Oman and Bahrain are the following races), this competition became the 2015 "next best thing" after Hawaii. A top class organisation and the high prize purse brought a world-class field to Dubai. The women's race was dominated by the runner-up of Hawaii, Daniela Ryf (SUI:4:05:01), followed by Heather Wurtele (CAN: 4:09:21). Helle Frederiksen (DEN: 4:11:43) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came third after a solid run. The men's podium was slightly unexpected with a deserved win of Terenzo Bozzone (NZL:3:41:45), Michael Raelert (GER:3:42:49), the winner of Challenge Bahrain, came second and Manuel Küng (SUI: 3:45:39) came third. Bart Aernouts (BEL:03:47:13) of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team came 6th with the 2nd best run of the race. His teammate Will Clarke finished in 34th position (GBR:04:01:35). 2015 continues to be great for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team, with 4 podium finishes in 4 races.

Romain Guillaume wins Gwadloup Tri

Romain Guillaume of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team won Gwadloup Tri, an international half distance triathlon in Guadeloupe. The men's podium was only French. Romain Guillaume won with an impressive lead (FRA: 4:10:32), before 2 time French long distance champion Stéphane Poulat (FRA: 4:21:07). Francky Favre came third (FRA: 4:24:50). 2015 started great for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team, with 2 wins and a 3rd place in 3 races.

First victory of 2015: Liz Blatchford wins Ironman 70.3 Geelong

After the podium finish of Bart Aernouts in Ironman 70.3 South Africa, Liz Blatchford took the first win of the season for the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team. It became an Australians only podium in the women's race of Ironman 70.3 Geelong. It was Liz Blatchford (AUS: 4:19: 34) who finally defeated her compatriot Rebekah Keat (AUS: 04:20:03) during the final 3 kilometers of the run, Sarah Crowley finished 3rd after a strong run (AUS; 04:20:52). The first victory of the Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team for 2015 is a fact.
