Liz Blatchford

Liz Blatchford knows how to make an entrance. In her very first Ironman Hawaii, she ran straight to a spot on the podium. Her third place in Kona, only her third Ironman, capped a great 2013 and Liz' first full year as a long distance triathlete. She won Ironman 70.3 Busselton, Ironman Cairns and finished 4th in Ironman Mont-Tremblant in 2013. The Australian athlete with British roots made the move to long distance racing after a successful career in the Olympic distance, with World Cup wins dating back to 2003. Right now, she is focused on becoming even stronger as an Ironman athlete: “I am still trying to gain strength on the bike. It has gotten better, but it is something I still need work on, especially the final 50 km on the bike.” Liz' 2014 got to a great start with a win in the Husky Long Course triathlon and podium spots in Ironman Western Australia, Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya and the Mallorca 70.3. In June, she successfully defended her Ironman Cairns title. With a 10th place in Kona, she confirmed her well deserved position in the top league of female triathletes. Liz finished the 2014 season in style winning  Challenge Forster and securing her Kona qualification with a podium finish in Ironman Busselton. And if she became stronger as an Ironman athlete. In 2015 Liz finished on the podium in each long distance race she participated, including the Ironman World Championships in Kona (3rd). In 2015 Liz also won for the third consecutive year Ironman Cairns, won IM 70.3 Geelong and finished 2nd in Ironman Mont Tremblant.
